What is FR4?

FR4 is the most commonly used material for making printed circuit boards (PCBs). Its name "FR4" means "Flame Retardant Grade 4". This material is made of fiberglass cloth dipped in flame-retardant epoxy resin.

The "4" means that it meets specific fire safety standards and is safer to use in many places.
